GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Oman-based airline SalamAir on Thursday launched direct flights between Mogadishu and Muscat, establishing what the airline says is the first nonstop air connection between Somalia and the Sultanate of Oman.

The new service, which began on September 3, 2026, will operate twice a week, providing a direct link between the Somali and Omani capitals.

SalamAir said one-way fares on the route will start from 79.99 Omani rials. The airline said the service will also provide Somali passengers with onward connections through Muscat to destinations across the Middle East and Asia.

The carrier said the new route is expected to strengthen the movement of people and goods between Somalia and Oman while supporting growing trade and economic links between the two countries.

The launch adds Muscat to the expanding number of international destinations directly connected to Mogadishu as airlines increase services to Somalia.

SalamAir said the route could also create new opportunities for business and travel by improving connectivity between Somalia, Oman and destinations served through its Muscat network.
