12 top Al-Shabaab operatives killed in Mogadishu- NISA

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Twelve of the most wanted Al-Shabaab operatives in Mogadishu were killed in an operation Wednesday night, the national intelligence agency, NISA has said.

“A special operation tonight targeted 15 AS Mafia officers in charge of disrupting security in the capital Mogadishu. Twelve terrorists were killed. It is a national duty to protect the security and safety of the Somali people,” read the statement from NISA.

The intelligence agency further said the operation targeted 15 of the most wanted terror group members but 12 were killed in the night raid. However, the force did not specify exactly where the operation was carried out nor if the other three were nabbed or managed to escape the police dragnet.

NISA has continued to up its operations in Mogadishu following last week’s horrific bombing in Mogadishu which claimed the lives of 8 people, school children included.

On Sunday, NISA soldiers unearthed a cache of weapons from an explosive storage cave in Sooq Hoolaha, Heliwaa district in Mogadishu.
