13 Foreigners Killed in Airstrike in Bari Region- Puntland

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BARI: At least 13 foreigners affiliated with the ISIS terrorist group were killed in an airstrike Monday, Puntland authorities have said.

The Puntland Counter-Terrorism Command centre said the strike carried out in the last 24 hours targeted ISIS hideouts in the mountain ranges of Al-Miskad where fighting has been raging on for weeks.

“The airstrikes carried out in Dhasaq area, in the Al-Miskaad mountains over the past 24 hours killed more than 13 foreign fighters from the Islamic State group,” a statement from Puntland’s counter-terrorism unit said.

The command said the Puntland Security Forces seized several equipment used by the terrorist group during an extensive operation in the area.

There was no comment yet from the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) which is known to carry out major airstrikes against Al-Shabaaab and ISIS in Somalia.

The U.S announced last week it kiled a key figurehead in the ISIS group in the first airstrike since President Donald Trump took office late January.
