169 more Somalis safely evacuated from war-torn Sudan

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: A further 169 Somalis who were stranded in Sudan arrived in Mogadishu Monday afternoon adding to about 500 Somalis who have been evacuated from the war-torn nation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Monday that 169 nationals arrived on three separate flights into the country following close coordination with the Somali Disaster Management Agency.

On Sunday, 123 Somalis arrived in the country as part of the ongoing evacuation efforts. Many countries have been evacuating their citizens as the war in Sudan rages.

On Monday, the two warring factions- Sudan National Army and the paramilitary unit, Rapid Support Force traded accusations over failure to halt fighting despite a ceasefire.
