Al-Shabab fighters attack SNA base in Shalanbod

Suspected Al-Shabab fighters have last night attacked Military bases of SNA forces in the outskirt Shalanbod town.

Hours of fighting has erupted after the fighters using different routes stormed at SNA  military base though the casualties of the clash are yet to confirm.

Local officials said that Al-Shabaab fighters raided a local SNA base on Friday night, leading to a fierce gun battle that lasted for hours.

They said, the Somali federal government forces however have managed to successfully repulse the attackers.

“Al-Shabaab attempted to attack SNA forces army, the federal government forces through tip-off were aware of the group’s plan before even they attacked the base, therefor the group was defeated,” Abdi Osman, A local officer in Shalambod town.

Al-Shabab fighters who want to topple internationally recognised Somali government, have sped up their attacks on SNA military bases in different parts of the country since President Farmaajo was elected early last month.
