28 Somali Students to Pursue Higher Education in Azerbaijan

GOOBJOOG NEWS | ANKARA: Twenty-eight Somali students have been awarded scholarships to study in Azerbaijan under an intergovernmental education program, the Somali Embassy in Ankara said.

Nineteen students have already arrived in Baku, with nine more expected in the coming days, the embassy said. They will study petroleum sciences, engineering, health and computer science.

The group was welcomed at Baku airport by Somali Embassy First Secretary Ibrahim Ali Abshir and representatives of host universities.

The embassy expressed hope the students would play a key role in Somalia’s development once they complete their studies.
