30 police officers to undergo two month technical and digital training

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: 30 police officers have kicked off a two-month training aimed at enhancing computer skills, professional writing, and safeguarding sensitive police data.

While launching the program, Federal Government of Somalia deputy police chief Osman Abdullaahi Kanif said the training will also improve the officers’ capabilities and enhance their efficiency in delivering their mandate.

The training which is facilitated by experienced instructors within the police force underscores the commitment by the recently appointed police boss to bolster the proficiency and independence of the Somali police.

The training also aligns the country’s police with the rapidly changing advancement in technology and the increasing reliance on digital platforms in law enforcement which has necessitated the need for requisite computer skills by police.

“Professional writing skills are equally essential for police officers to communicate efficiently and professionally in various contexts, such as official reports, correspondences, and public announcements,” a statement from the office of the Deputy Chief of police reads.

It adds, “This aspect of the workshop will focus on enhancing the officers’ ability to articulate their thoughts concisely, ensuring accurate documentation and clear communication within the force.”

The training’s inauguration ceremony witnessed a gathering of police officials, trainers, and participants who expressed their enthusiasm for the initiative.
