President Farmajo leaves for South Sudan to attend peace celebrations
President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo leading a delegation has Wednesday left for Juba to attend the South Sudanese peace celebration.
South Sudan’s conflicting parties and leaders from the African Union and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) are expected to attend the event that will take place at the Juba stadium to take part the peace agreement celebration.
The celebrations intend to show South Sudanese that war is over, in a way to contribute to creating a suitable atmosphere for the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.
Former Vice President of South Sudan Riek Machar arrived in Juba to attend the celebration.
South Sudan’s parties signed the peace deal at a regional summit in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa last September.
South Sudan is one of the countries that have diplomatic relations with Somalia and has thousands of Somalis living in the country.
