President Mohamud Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Hospital in Mogadishu

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Monday inaugurated a cutting-edge hospital in Mogadishu, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to strengthening the country’s healthcare system and reducing dependence on medical treatment abroad.
Addressing attendees at the launch, President Mohamud praised Somali entrepreneurs and youth for their instrumental role in funding and developing the hospital. He highlighted their efforts as a transformative step toward improving healthcare accessibility and fostering self-reliance in the medical sector.
“The state of healthcare in Somalia deeply concerns me. Every day, between 100 to 150 people leave the country for medical treatment abroad. The youth behind this project have not only provided critical healthcare services but have also introduced a new culture of innovation and commitment within our medical community,” the President stated.
Outlining a bold vision for the future, President Mohamud unveiled a tripartite collaboration plan between the government and private sector over the next five years. The initiative aims to establish six modern hospitals across Somalia while enhancing the overall quality of healthcare services nationwide.
The newly inaugurated Hodan Hospital, built at a cost of over $12 million, is set to provide advanced medical care for conditions that previously required patients to seek treatment overseas. This milestone marks a significant step toward alleviating the financial and logistical burden on Somali families while ensuring accessible, high-quality healthcare within the country.
