A Famous Somali General Omar Haji Masalle dies in UK

A famous Somali General, Major general Omar Haji Mohamed alias Omar Haji  Masalle has died in UK after long illness as some of his former co-workers confirmed to the media..

Abdukadir Diini, former Somali military commander speaking to VOA Somali service stated that the late Major General Omar Haji Masalle has died in hospital late on Monday.

Mr. Masalle  held important portfolios in the central government, he served as the minister for the ministries of defense and Health respectively and also served as the deputy commander of Somali national army.

He has also led the country’s defense forces before the fall of the Central government  led by late by Mohamed Siad Barre.

Former military officers and generals expressed their heartfelt condolences to the family and relatives of late Major General Masalle.
