A WRAP: Jubbaland picks last four senators, two women elected

GOOBJOOG NEWS|KISMAYO: Four more senators were today elected in Jubbaland ending the long-delayed exercise which comes close to three months since the first batch of senators was elected.

In the first seat, Hassan Dahir Yarow beat Abdi Hussein Ali garnering 59 votes while Ibrahim Aw-gaab Osman, who won the seat, received 57 votes, defeating Farhiya Mahalin Abdi, who received 14 votes.

Two female candidates were also elected. Laylo Nur Maah got 63 beating Haredo Mohamed Sheikh who garnered nine votes only. Maryan Farah Kadiye got 60 votes while her opponent Samsam Mohamed Bishar received 22 votes.

The election of the four senators marks the end of the Senatorial elections in Jubbaland and now paves way for the election of MPs.
