Abdikarim Hassan Elected Chairperson of Electoral and Boundaries Commission

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Abdikarim Ahmed Hassan has been elected Chairperson of the Independent National Elections and Boundaries Commission (INEBC).

The 18-member commission conducted elections Monday following their official appoinment by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. The commissioners were endorsed by parliament last week.

Hassan holds an American and Somali passport.

Saaqada Abshir Garaad was elected the deputy chairperson of the Commission.

According to the INEBC Act, the commissioners will serve for six years without the option of renewal of contract.
