Abdimalik Coldon acquitted of all charges

GOOBJOOG NEWS/Hargeisa: The Marodijeh Regional Court in Hargeisa has today acquitted Abdimalik Muse Coldon of all charges, after was arrested by Somaliland police in Burao on August 19, 2021.

The freelance journalist/social activist, has been detained in Hargeisa Central Prison for the last six months following a Facebook post alleging that the leadership of Barwaaqo and Abaarso Schools,  were spreading christianity

There have been several calls calling for the release of Abdimalik, including calls from Amnesty International and the Somaliland Journalists Association (SOLJA), citing infringement on his freedom of speech.

Abdimalik’s lawyer has welcomed the court’s decision, however,  he has expressed disappointment that his client was still behind bars at the time of the ruling.
