Accident claims four in Northern Somalia
Four people died on the spot on Monday morning after the car they were travelling collided with an oncoming lorry at Abdaal village, between Berbar and Hargeisa townships.
According to the police, the Toyota Noah car attempted to overtake another vehicle before it collided with the truck that was heading towards Hargeisa.
“All the four people who were riding in the car died on the spot and none of those who rode in the lorry was injured,” A police official told the Goobjoog News on phone.
Witnesses who the Goobjoog News spoke to said that three of the passengers in the Noah vehicle had been picked at Hargeisa town, barely 100 metres from the accident scene.
“Telling from how the car wreck is plastered onto the lorry and the nature of injuries the accident victims suffered, the car was speeding,” said Mr Hussein Mohamed.
Mr. Mohamed urged motorists to exercise caution when driving along the roads.
It took the combined efforts of police officers and residents to disentangle the bodies of the four from the car wreckage.
Police took the bodies to Berbara Hospital, and the wreck of the vehicles were towed to Police Station.
