Adwal Region’s Administration Warns Ethiopia over Naval Deal

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Ministers and Members of Parliament from Adwal Region of Somalia has issued a warning to Ethiopia against encroaching into the Somali Sea.

The leaders commended the Federal Government of Somalia for nullifying the Memorandum of Understanding between Somaliland and Ethiopia and called on Somali people, from the Northern Regions to united and defend their land and sea.

At the same time, youth from Lughaya area in Adwal region have taken up arms and vowed to resist any move by Ethiopia to encroach into Somalia’s territory.

The youth have also appealed to the Somali people to join them in their struggle against the foreign occupation and accused the Somaliland administration of selling out the Somali nation and its resources to Ethiopia.

The youth’s uprising is part of a wider protest movement that has erupted in Awdal region and other parts of Somalia against Ethiopia’s attempt to claim part of the Somali Sea.

The protesters have denounced the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the Ethiopian government and the Somaliland administration, which grants Ethiopia access to the port of Berbera and a corridor to the Somali Sea.
