AFRICOM fires airstrike against Al-Shabaab in Jilib, no casualties confirmed

GOOBJOOG NEWS|LOWER JUBA: The US Africa Command said Monday it carried out an airstrike in Jilib on Saturday.

AFRICOM said the strike hit Al-Shabaab targets in Jilib but did not indicate any casualties.

“The command’s initial assessment is that no civilians were killed on injured,” AFRICOM said.

The strike comes amid heightened ground operations against Al-Shabaab in central and southern parts of th country.
