AG names 18 suspects wanted over corruption allegations
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Attorney General Suleiman Mohamed Mahmoud has named 18 individuals said to have been involved in corruption and financial crimes.
The Attorney General however said the named individuals have fled the country and are now considered fugitives and that they will be charged in abstia.
AG Mahmoud revealed that the individuals are accused of crimes including; forgery, theft, corruption and embezzlement of public funds, saying their actions demonstrated their disregard of their responsibilities.
The exposure underscores the resolve by the Federal Government to fight corruption and reminds public servants that the law applies to all citizens regardless of their position in society.
“As Somalia continues its path towards rebuilding and strengthening its institutions, eradicating corruption remains crucial priority for the nation’s progress and the well-being of its citizens,” the AG noted in his statement.
