Ahlu-Sunna in Dhusa-Mareeb discards the agreement reached Galmudug State

A group which split from Ahlu-sunna has discarded the deal signed by Galmudug president Abdikarim Hussein Gulled and Ahlu-sunna chairman Sheik Ibrahim Hussein Gureye and said the peace deal means nothing to them.

The breakaway Ahlu-sunna wing in Dhusa-mareeb town has said that the agreement reached by the two sides has got nothing to do it.

Sheikh Mohamed Shakir Ali who is the chairman of the breakaway Ahlu-sunna wing in Dhusa-Mareeb town said that the members of the group who signed the peace deal with Galmudug state are defectors and are no longer representing the group.

“We have nothing to do with the deal, Ahlu-sunna nominated its own president for areas under its rule and the president represents the people” he said.

This comes a day after Galmudug president Abdikarim Hussein Guled and Ahlu Sunna’s chairman Sheik Ibrahim Hussein Gureye signed agreement which makes provision for power sharing mechanism.

In the news deal Ahlu Sunna would get 30% of the regional assembly, 25% in the cabinet and 25% in the army and there would be some changes in the constitution to suit Ahlu Sunna demands.

Earlier this month, forces loyal to armed group Ahlu Sunna Wal Jamaah entered the town of Abudwak, Galgudud region and taken control, a move calculated as pre-emptive against newly formed administration of Galmudug.

The group said it had nominated own president for areas under its rule when the Galmudug state formation conference was ongoing in Adado following a declaration it was boycotting the conference
