Aid workers freed in Gedo
Three aid workers kidnapped in Gedo have been released after nearly 8 hours captivity in captivity.
Traditional elder in Bardhere said the kidnappers who seized the workers yesterday freed following efforts made by local elders.
“Extended discussions with the actual kidnappers resulted in the release of the hostages,” he said.
One of Hirda workers said “we are “overjoyed to hear that three of the staff members who were kidnapped in yesterday have been released and are safe and well.”
Somali aid workers and their driver were kidnapped on Saturday morning while they were on vaccination campaign at rural areas.
The abduction took place at Tubako area, 15Km south west of Bardere city after armed militants intercepted a vehicle in which the aid workers were travelling in, according to the residents
