Airstrike in Yemen Reportedly Kills Senior Al Shabaab Figure
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Yemeni media outlets reported the killing of a senior Al-Shabaab commander in an airstrike in territory controlled by Yemen’s Houthi movement, in what was described as a blow to alleged cross-border militant networks.
The commander, identified as Abdikadir Yahye Ali, was reportedly in Yemen to coordinate logistical and operational cooperation between Al-Shabaab and the Houthis.
According to the reports, Ali was linked to an international network accused of facilitating the transfer of weapons, explosives and other military supplies between Somalia, Yemen and countries in the wider region.
Yemeni outlets also circulated an image of a Yemeni passport allegedly carried by Ali and issued in Sanaa, presenting it as evidence of access and facilitation in Houthi-held territory.
The reported killing was described as a setback to arms trafficking routes across the Red Sea and to alleged covert ties between the two groups.
There has been no immediate comment from Al-Shabaab or the Houthis. The reports have renewed scrutiny of maritime security and smuggling routes linking Somalia and Yemen across the Red Sea.
