GOOBJOOG MIDDLE SHABELLE: An airstrike carried out by the U.S. forces in coordination with the Somali government killed 12 Al-Shabaab militants in Adan Yabal area of Middle Shabelle shortly after the militants took control of the town.
The Somali government said Thursday the airstrike hit a site used by the militants for gathering and as a hideout.
The statement added that among the dead were senior Al-Shabaab members and that there were no civilian casualties.
There was no immediate comment from the U.S Africa Command (AFRICOM).
The strike came just a few hours after Al-Shabaab attacked and wrested control of the strategic town of Adan Yabal. Somali National Army captured the town in 2022.
