Airstrike Kills 17 Al-Shabaab Militants-Somali Gov’t

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MIDDLE SHABELLE: At least 17 Al-Shabaab militants were killed in an airstrike Monday night in the Middle Shabelle region, the Ministry of Defence has said.

The Ministry said in a statement that the strike targeted AL-Shabaab militants in Jabad Godone area in the Middle Shabelle region. The strike was in coordination with international partners, the statement added.

The US Africa Command (AFRICOM) has been conducting targeted strikes against Al-Shabaab militants in coordination with the Somali government.

The Ministry also noted that the strike destroyed vehicles and weapons used by the group.
