Al-Shabaab attacks increases following security lapse in Lower Shabelle region
Incompetence and failing to address the insecurity by the federal and regional government has been sped up Al-Shabaab attacks that engulfed Lower Shabelle region, local official said Wednesday.
Lower Shabelle deputy governor, Ali Noor said security is worsening and no effective measures have been taken by both Somali federal government and Southwest State.
He accused the governments and security agencies for failing to set up effective strategies to thwart insecurity activities.
The Somali government has struggled to control Al-Shabaab fighters who are fighting to overthrow the weak government and bring Somalia under Shariah law.
The security change came following several Al-Shabaab attacks that led displacement local residents in Lower Shabelle region.
