Al-Shabaab fighters attacked military base of government forces at Suuqo-Hoolaha (Animal market) locality in Mogadishu.
Residents woke up to the huge sounds of gunfire and heavy artillery as the two sides engaged in a fierce gun battle.
At least two people reportedly killed and more than fours others injured.
The attack began with rocket propelled grenades and mortar shells fired on the base.
Confirming the incident, a resident near the base said that SNA warded off the attack.
Somali government has yet to comment on the issue.
This comes less than forty eight hours after over 20 people were killed in Al-Shabaab’s latest attack carried out on Friday night.
