Al-Shabaab Base Destroyed in Somali Intelligence Operation

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali security forces have killed more than a dozen Al-Shabaab fighters, including senior leaders, in a night-time raid on a militant base in Aden Yabaal district.
According to government sources, the operation was carried out by Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) with help from international partners. It targeted a house in the Howlwadaag area where Al-Shabaab leaders were holding a meeting.
Gunfire broke out as the raid began. Shortly after, a huge explosion shook the area. Officials say the blast came from explosives stored inside the compound, confirming that the site was being used as both a command center and weapons storage.
“Many militants were killed, including top commanders,” a NISA official said. “The place was full of weapons and explosives, and it was completely destroyed.”
Aden Yabaal is in the Middle Shabelle region, an area where Al-Shabaab has operated for many years. The government says this successful operation is part of its wider plan to defeat the group and bring stability to the country.
