Al-Shabaab executes six young men by firing squad for spying

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The extremist group Al-Shabab has executed six young men by flying squad in the Kunyo-Barow area of Awdheegle district, Lower Shabelle region over allegations of spying for  the Somali government and United States intelligence.

The men were executed late Saturday in a public square, where hundreds of residents had thronged the scene, having been forced to watch the live executions.

The six men, Abdul Qadir Ibrahim (Husayn), Abdirahman Abdulle Dhicisow, Aweys Aden Hassan (Dalabey), Abdalla Nunow Abdul Qadir, Mohamed Sheikhey Barrow, and Hassan Omar Murjaan (Hassan Garre), were charged with a variety of offenses ranging from providing information that resulted in the deaths of prominent Al-Shabab figures to participating in attacks which saw several members of the being killed.

Without presenting proof, an Al-Shabab judge claimed that the six individuals had confessed to locals that they had given intelligence about the killing of the Al-Shabaab officials to US authorities.
