Al-Shabaab operative on $70 monthly pay jailed for 15 years in Mogadishu

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: A military court in Mogadishu has sentenced a man accused of being a member of Al-Shabaab to 15 years for his membership to the outlawed group and carrying out attacks in the city.

The court of First Instance sentenced Yusuf Duqow Hussein Dhihisow to 15 years in jail following his arrest and trial. The court held that the convict was responsible for several attacks in Mogadishu.

It noted that on May 14 this year, Dhihisow hurled a hand grenade at the premises of one of the departments of Banaadir Regional Administration in Mogadishu.

The prosecution told the court that Dhihisow joined Al-Shabaab from Bur-Eylo in Bur-Hakaba district, and was paid $70 per month. It added that the convict lived in Eeltimir neighbourhood in Dayniile district and worked with a woman to carry out attacks in Mogadishu.
