Al-Shabaab Positions Destroyed in Somali Army’s Jamaame Offensive
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Somali National Army (SNA) has said its 43rd Division, backed by the Danaab commandos, carried out a series of coordinated ground and air operations against Al-Shabaab militants in several areas of Jamaame district, Lower Juba.
Troops swept through Muuse Xaaji, Araare, Koban, Bangeeni, Maleyleey, Baladu-Raxma and Maam-bile, dismantling militant positions and forcing fighters to abandon their hideouts, military officials said.
The ground offensive was reinforced by targeted airstrikes that destroyed locations where the militants had attempted to regroup or conceal equipment.
Commanders said the operations inflicted heavy losses on the group, adding that forces were pursuing surviving fighters as the push through the wider Jamaame area continues.
