Amb. Epiphany Kabushemeye receives a colorful sendoff following end of tour of duty in Somalia
A colorful send off ceremony for outgoing AMISOM Civilian Chief of Staff Ambassador Epiphany Kabushemeye was held on Tuesday, 29 December 2015, in Mogadishu.
Maj. Gen. Fidza Dludlu Officer in Charge of the Mission, who is also the Acting Head of the Mission, was the chief guest and he had some kind parting words for the departing officer.
“She helped a lot of people and was easy to talk to. She has been a good role model in AMISOM and she has done the mission proud. I wish you well, good luck and thanks for your service to AMISOM madam Ambassador” said Maj Gen Fidza.
AMISOM Acting Force Commander, Maj. Gen. Mohammedesha Zeyinu, on his part praised the outgoing civilian Chief of Staff for her great contribution to the mission.
“During our time in the Mission, we had many encounters and my observation was that she was really devoted to her work. She was easy to communicate with and played a major role in problem solving. We worked together on all issues concerning force headquarters in close collaboration and mutual understanding. I want to commend you for your dedication, efforts as well as the desire to see Somalia achieve peace and stability. I wish you all the best” said Maj. Gen. Mohammedesha
AMISOM Deputy Police Commissioner, Christine Alalo, had some emotional parting words for the outgoing Amb Kabushemeye.
“We appreciate your service to us as the police component. You were the first person to welcome me in your house and I really had a sister in you. We shared a lot, and I would say I will miss you; although we have not had much time to be together. We know you have something important to do; your country also needs your contribution. On behalf of the AMISOM police Component, I would like to say thank you for supporting the Police, for standing with us, guiding us and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors,” said the deputy Police commissioner
In her remarks the Ambassador said “Thank you all for organizing and attending this farewell party. It was a pleasant surprise and you pulled it off at such a short notice. I appreciate the support I received during my time with AMISOM. I would like to thank the AMISOM leadership for their support and I hope they will continue to do their best in improving and building peace in Somalia. AMISOM mission is close to my heart”.
Present at the ceremony were Acting AMISOM Chief of Staff, Col. Dahir Aden Abrar, Brigadier General Sam Okiding Sector 1 Contingent Commander, Protocol Officers from AMISOM Mission headquarters and representatives from UNSOS among other guests.
Ambassador Epiphany has completed a 3 years stint that began in September 2012 where she contributed tremendously towards the attainment of the AMISOM mandate.
