AMISOM troops apprehend locals following bomb blast in Lower Shabelle
African Union troops Monday arrested over seven locals following a bomb blast damaged AMISOM vehicle in Buuri locality south of Somalia’s capital city, Mogadishu.
A local resident who declined his name said that troops cordoned off the scene and launched operations which netted over seven people who were around the area.
“They have arrested over seven people who happened to be near the scene after the bomb blast” he said.
No-one has so far claimed the attack, though Al-Shabaab has previously vowed to AMISOM and Somali forces.
AMISOM has yet to comment on this and attempts to reach it was not successful.
Al-Shabab has been forced out of the capital, Mogadishu, and several other towns over the past year but still controls much of the countryside in south and central Somalia. However, it still stages frequent attacks.
