Arab Foreign Ministers suspend cooperation with Turkey

Arab Foreign Ministers have decided to suspend Arab – Turkish cooperation upon a request from a unnamed Gulf State, Arab League officials told Youm7 Tuesday.
The officials added that suspension decision has unanimously been approved upon a request from “a big Gulf State,” refusing to name it.

Egypt has called for closing the Arab League office in Ankara; however, the proposal was opposed by Qatar and other two countries, they continued.

It was scheduled hat Egypt would host the sixth Arab-Turkish Cooperation Forum in 2013, however, it has yet been held due to strained relations between Egypt’s current regime, backed from Gulf States, and Turkey since Morsi’s ouster.

In the concluding session of 144th meeting of the Arab League Foreign Ministers chaired by the UAE, the member states also called on Iran to not intervene into “Arab domestic affairs,” referencing the Iranian support of the Houthis in Yemen.

The member states also called strengthen all international efforts to put an end to all ongoing conflicts in Syria, Yemen, Libya, Palestine, Iraq, Somalia, Lebanon, and Comoros.
