Arab League Chief Welcomes Somalia’s New Constitution
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Arab States League head Ahmed Aboul Gheit has welcomed the adoption of Somalia’s final constitution, describing it as a historic milestone in the country’s efforts to strengthen its state institutions.
In remarks issued through his spokesperson Gamal Roshdy, the head of the League of Arab States said the constitution’s entry into force marks an important step toward consolidating governance based on the rule of law, separation of powers and respect for fundamental rights and freedoms.
Aboul Gheit said the development reflects the continued commitment of the Somali people and their institutions to strengthening political stability, reinforcing national unity and advancing democratic governance.
He added that the Arab League would continue supporting Somalia in efforts aimed at enhancing security, strengthening democratic institutions and promoting development and stability across the country and the wider region.
