Armed men invade Puntland Radio and Television headquarters
Reports from Garowe, the administrative capital of Somalia’s semi-autonomous state of Puntland state that armed men on Tuesday stormed Puntland Radio and Television premises and ordered the staff to leave.
Eye witness told the media that the gunmen who raided the premises are said to be dressed in military uniforms as well as civilian clothes.
Unconfirmed reports state that some recently sacked government officials are believed to be behind the attack against the television premises.
The former director of the state owned media Ahmed Mohamed Ali and other government officials were sacked yesterday.
The traditional elders in Garowe are now making efforts steps to end the confrontation and Puntland authorities are yet to comment on the incident.
