Army Chief’s Frontline Visit Boosts Operations, Stability Push in Lower Shabelle

GOOBJOOG NEWS | LOWER SHABELLE: A visit by Somalia’s land forces commander to frontline positions in Lower Shabelle is expected to strengthen ongoing military operations and reinforce stability efforts in recently recovered areas.

General Sahal Abdullahi Omar toured key positions in Sabiid, Caanoole and Mubaarak, where he issued directives aimed at improving coordination, sustaining pressure on Al-Shabaab and ensuring troops maintain control of strategic locations.

Military officials said the visit had an immediate impact on troop morale and operational clarity, with frontline units receiving direct guidance and reassurance of continued support from central command.

The presence of senior leadership, alongside Special Forces and logistics commanders, was also seen as reinforcing coordination between combat operations and supply chains, critical to maintaining momentum in the region.

The officials said such inspections help ensure that defensive positions are strengthened, resources are adequately deployed and gaps in security are quickly addressed, reducing the risk of militant regrouping.

Lower Shabelle remains a key battleground due to its proximity to Mogadishu and its role as a strategic corridor. Officials said sustained leadership engagement on the ground is central to consolidating recent gains and preventing reversals as Somalia pushes toward long-term stability.
