Army mutiny ends, dozens of trucks freed in Garowe after elders’ intervention
Agreement between the traditional elders and disgruntled soldiers to end a revolt has led dozens of trucks to be released from Garowe custom.
Heavily armed soldiers on Thursday seized control of custom office located at south-west entrance control over unpaid salaries.
The Lorries heading to Garowe town and those leaving the town have remained stuck for hours at the checkpoint.
Sources said the soldier freed the trucks and accepted to go back their barracks after the situation was intervened by elders and politicians.
The move comes bare two weeks after Puntland forces took control of Puntland assembly in Garowe town over complaints of delayed salaries and poor working conditions.
The soldiers have been complaining about poor welfare and lack of salaries for the last few months.
