GOOBJOOG NEWS | BELEDWEYNE: At least two people, including a soldier were killed and several others injured in an explosion Sunday evening at Beledweyne town, central Somalia.
Resindents said the blast occurred at a Somali government security forces checkpoint near the Djibouti troops serving under the ATMIS mission.
However, no official comment has been released by the regional administration regarding the incident and no group has so far claimed responsibility.
On Sunday, the African Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) handed over the forward operating base in Beledweyne to the National Armed Forces.
The transfer marked the fifth base to be handed over as part of phase 3 of the ATMIS troop drawdown.
