ATMIS, SNA Forces to Conduct Joint Patrols in Jubbaland State

GOOBJOOG NEWS | DHOBLEY: The African Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and Somali National Army have announced plans to conduct joint patrols so as to deter the Al-shabaab militant group from carrying out attacks against civilians in Jubbaland State.

This was announced during a visit by Brigadier Seif Salim Rashid, the Commander of ATMIS Sector 2 to the Somali National Army (SNA) camp in Dhobley where they discussed the “strategies for enhancing security in the Lower Juba region.

“The partnership between ATMIS and SNA is crucial for maintaining peace and stability in Lower Juba. We are committed to working together to protect our communities from the threat of Al-Shabaab,” Brigadier Rashid said.

During the visit, Brigadier Rashid reaffirmed the commitment of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and the Kenyan Defence Forces (KDF) to ” support the SNA in their efforts to combat Al-Shabaab and secure the area.”

The meeting underscored the importance of cooperation between ATMIS and SNA forces in maintaining stability and protecting civilians from militant attacks.

Brigadier Rashid stated that ATMIS, remains dedicated to assisting the SNA in securing key areas against Al-Shabaab threats.

The joint patrols will focus on critical areas vulnerable to militant activities, aiming to deter attacks and provide a secure environment for the local population. This initiative reflects the ongoing efforts of Somali and international forces to enhance security and promote long-term peace in the region.
