Attorney General Cracks Down on Defamation, Divisive Content

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Attorney General’s Office has said it is pursuing cases involving defamation, incitement, and the spread of false information, warning that strict legal measures will be taken against offenders.

The Attorney General said several individuals have already been prosecuted, while investigations into other cases are ongoing. The cases also cover the circulation of indecent images and videos, as well as attempts to sow division in society.

The statement added that such acts pose a threat to public order, social cohesion, and personal reputation, stressing that enforcement of the law is vital to maintaining stability and safeguarding the dignity of the Somali people.

Authorities say protecting social integrity and strengthening public trust are key to Somalia’s long-term peace and development.
