AU 30th Session Kicks off Today in Ethiopia
The 30th summit of the ordinary assembly of the head of State of the African Union (AU) organization takes place today in the headquarters of the union in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa that will run for consecutive 2 days.
The theme of the current session is “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation.”
Some of the agendas of the meeting are expected touch on the “consideration of the report of the Executive Council; the Annual report of the Chairperson of the Commission for the period January to December 2017 and the report on the implementation of the Assembly Declarations including that on the Solemn Commitment on the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM).”
The gathering will bring together all the heads of state and government from the 55 African Union member states.
Major objectives expected to be deliberated in the meeting include considering the “report of the 32nd Ordinary Session of the Executive Council, as well as adopt Assembly decisions and declarations” among others.
AU is a leading light for Africa’s development and integration in close collaboration with African Union Member States, the Regional Economic Communities and African citizens.
Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo who is already in Addsi Ababa is expected to address the session. He travelled yesterday to Ethiopia.
