AU condemns coup attempt in Gabon
The African Union (AU) condemned the coup attempt carried out by junior military officers in Gabon today.
Moussa Faki Mahamat, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission reaffirmed AU’s total rejection on the coup attempt.
A group of military servicemen seized the state broadcasting station of Gabon to announce the creation of the so-called national restoration council.
But later a spokesman for the government has said the political situation in Gabon is under control.
All five of the rebels who tried to take charge have now been arrested by the authorities.
