Auditor General Urges Airport Operator to Implement Audit Recommendations
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Auditor General Ahmed Issa Gutale, has called on airport operator Favori LLC to implement outstanding audit recommendations aimed at improving financial transparency and accountability in the management of revenues at Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport.
Gutale, accompanied by senior officials and advisers from the Office of the Auditor General, met representatives of Favori LLC on Sunday to review the company’s progress in implementing recommendations arising from a previous audit of its management of airport revenues.
The discussions focused on strengthening financial oversight, improving the quality of the company’s financial reporting and ensuring that audit recommendations are implemented within agreed timelines.
The Auditor General’s Office also stressed the importance of Favori fully complying with its revenue-sharing agreement with the Somali government, including a requirement for the company’s financial statements to undergo annual independent external audits.
Favori’s Somalia representative, Mustafa Durgut, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to working closely with the Auditor General’s Office to implement the recommendations and enhance transparency in its financial reporting.
The meeting forms part of broader efforts by Somalia’s oversight institutions to strengthen public financial management, improve accountability and ensure greater transparency in the management of state revenues and public-private partnerships.
