Banaadir FC signs up seasoned Kenyan coach as Serie A bonanza draws near

Top tier football club Baanadir FC has signed the services of seasoned Kenyan football player and coach Edward Karanja as it gears up for the start of the Premier League in December.

Banaadir FC which was a point shy away from the coveted league prize last season closing with 35 points behind winner Heegan FC is hoping to turn around its fortunes with the services of Karanja whose expertise and experience has earned him respect in Football in the region.

Goobjoog Sports had an exclusive interview today with Karanja and his vision for Banaadir FC as a football lover’s dream is unmistakable.

“My football philosophy is to have my team play football on the ground, pass the ball around and when we win ball possession, I think we will all our matches,” said Karanja exuding confidence over his new assignment in Somalia.

Karanja becomes the first Kenyan coach to take up an assignment in Somalia having had a colourful history as national team, Harambee Stars player for over ten years, a stint in Muscat, Oman before serving as under 17, 19 and 23 coach for a couple of years.

Coming to Somalia for Karanja is an opportunity to grow his coaching experience and with the passion to promote Somali football.

“A lot of people talk a negative about Somalia but I thought it was a good challenge for me as a coach to move my coaching to the next level. I thought it was good for me to come and make history and make the world believe that Somali football is growing,” said Karanja.

For Banaadir FC opponents, Karanja warns of a good run for their money but a well deserved gift of good football for the fans.
