Banadir Court Approves Legal Action Against Ahmed Madoobe
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: A court in Mogadishu has authorised prosecutors to proceed with a criminal case against Jubaland president Ahmed Madobe for alleged offenses under Somalia’s penal code.
The Banadir Regional Court approved a request by the Office of the Attorney General to move forward with prosecution measures against Ahmed Mohamed Islaan, also known as Ahmed Madoobe, in a case registered under reference number MGB/DCL/1531/2024.
In its decision, dated Jan. 29, the court cited relevant provisions of the Somali Penal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code, including articles governing prosecutorial authority and the issuance of arrest warrants.
The ruling clears the way for prosecutors to continue legal proceedings, including enforcement of arrest measures initially sought in late November 2024, court documents showed.
It was not immediately clear which particular offenses Madobe may have committed. However, the Federal Government has in the past declared his presidency illegitimate.
