GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Ministry of Interior has welcomed the successful election of a new district council in the Banadir region, calling it a milestone for democratic participation and local governance.
The ministry said the Dec. 25 vote reflected growing political maturity and public engagement, and praised electoral authorities and security agencies for delivering a peaceful and transparent process.
The newly elected council is expected to strengthen service delivery, improve accountability and accelerate local development initiatives in the capital region.
The vote is seen as part of broader efforts by the federal government to deepen decentralisation and reinforce democratic institutions at the local level.
