Banadir Governor Calls for Collective Effort to Build Stable Somalia
GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Mogadishu Mayor and Banadir Region Governor Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein has urged Somali leaders to strengthen cooperation and national unity as the country advances toward democratic and developmental milestones.
Speaking during a dinner he hosted for members of both houses of parliament on Sunday, Mayor Hussein called for solidarity among government institutions and citizens to drive peace, governance, and service delivery.
He said Somalia’s progress depends on leaders putting collective national interests above individual or political differences. “Our strength lies in unity and cooperation,” the mayor said, stressing that rebuilding Somalia requires all institutions to work together toward shared goals.
Hussein also highlighted the importance of preparing for one-person, one-vote elections, saying it represents a vital step in deepening democracy and ensuring that every citizen has a voice in the country’s future.
Lawmakers attending the event praised the Banadir administration’s progress in local development and governance. The meeting reinforced growing collaboration between regional and federal authorities aimed at achieving lasting stability and inclusive growth.
The mayor’s remarks underscored his administration’s focus on promoting national cohesion, effective governance, and citizen participation — priorities seen as central to Somalia’s long-term peace and prosperity.
