General Hassan Mohamed Hussein Mungab governor of Banadir region has met with his Nairobi counterpart Evans Kidero to discuss wide ranging issues, including establishing working relationship between the two.
Hassan who also doubles up as Mogadishu mayor is accompanied by the newly accredited Somalia ambassador to Kenya Jamal Mohamed and other official to his visit to Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero.
Kidero who spoke to waiting journalists after the meeting at the City Hall said “we discussed our system of devolved governance in Kenya, revenue collection mechanism, disaster management for example in case of fire, and we finally discussed how best we can work together on theses fronts”.
Banadir governor raised the need for skills transfer between the two regions, which both hosts the capital cities of the respective countries.
“We touched on good governance and they would help us achieve elective local government in Mogadishu like Nairobi” said Mr. Mungab.
This marks the first time the two have met since they came to office.
