GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Banadir Regional Court is set to deliver verdict Wednesday in the case of a man accused of killing his wife by setting her on fire in Mogadishu.

The case has captured the attention of the Somali people who are eagerly awaiting the outcome of the case, which is seen as one of the most challenging legal proceedings in Somali judiciary history.

The suspect, Sayid Ali Moallim Daud is being accused of killing his wife Luul Abdiasis a crime that sent shockwaves throughout Somalia and that prompted the prosecution to seek the “death penalty” for crime.

However, Dauds’s defense rubbished the accusations noting that there was no watertight evidence linking Daud to the killing of his wife.

During the case, which was broadcast live on television across Somalia, the defence team accused the prosecution of concocting evidence to suit their line of charges, arguing that not even a single witness was at the site of the alleged offense when it happened.

Today’s judgement is expected to shed light onto what actually transpired over the tragic incident with the court stating that it recognizes the significance of the case.

The victim’s family has on the other hand stated that it will not burry the body until the case is determined and justice delivered to their keen.

The case outcome therefore will not only provide closure for the affected parties but also set a precedent for justice in cases of domestic violence.

Both parties will still have the opportunity to appeal the court’s decision, ensuring that due process is upheld.
