Bardhere blast victims airlifted to Mogadishu for treatment
Bardhere district commissioner and eight others who were wounded in a grenade attack on a cafe in Badhere town in Southern Somalia, have been airlifted to Mogadishu for further treatment, according to officials.
Bardhere deputy district commissioner, Moalim Hussein said the victims who are in serious conditions would be treated in Mogadishu.
“They need specialized treatment so they were taken to Mogadishu for treatment, They will be admitted Halane military base where AMISOM Doctors will try to attend to the worst injured first,”
On Thursday night unknown people hurled a hand grenade on a cafe injuring thirteen people including the DC, head of security and seven security guards and other civilians.
No group has claimed credit for the attack, but Al-Shabaab which wants to over throw the western backed Somali government has been carrying out attacks on hotels, military bases, restaurant since beginning of this month.
Four Al-Shabaab fighters driving a car laden with with explosives on Thursday attacked Benadir Beach-view restaurant near Lido Beach in Mogadishu, a town the group lost its control five years ago to Somali forces and AU troops.
The fighters entered inside the restaurant which is frequently used by young people, government worker, those from abroad.
The group killed 7 people in a siege that lasted till late hours of Thursday. Somali security forces said they arrested one of the attackers who had sustained serious injures from the car explosion.
Al-Shabaab which vowed to disrupt the upcoming elections has stepped up its attacks. This week only the group four deadly attacks across Somalia.
