Beledweyne district commissioner lifts curfew on Bundoweyn
Beledweyne district commissioner, Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim has lifted the curfew imposed on one of Beledweyne suburbs after three months of night curfew.
The dusk-to-dawn curfew which had been in effect on Buundoweyn village was imposed after clan clashes in this area had claimed the lives of many people mostly fighting sides.
Ibrahim said the curfew would not apply henceforth and that the government would monitor the situation for a review.
“The security of the village drastically changed after the curfew, the security has been improved and this time round we decided to lift the curfew,” said Ibrahim.
“The main reason behind the curfew was to beef up the security of the village” he added.
Residents applauded the administration for lifting the Bundoweyn curfew which seriously affected the business.
A curfew imposed on the village during the night leading to a restriction of the movement of people and vehicles.
