Blast in Mogadishu Kills at Least 5 people
At least 5 people were killed and 15 others were wounded in Mogadishu when a car laden with explosives blew up outside a popular café in the capital on Wednesday evening, witnesses said.
The attack took place around 7 p.m. in a parking area at the cafe, where people mostly students gather.
The district commissioner of Hamarweyne in Banadir region Abdikadir Mohamed Abdikadir briefing the media after the explosion outside the affected café said two men parked the car outside the café and disappeared adding the car blew up immediately.
The men escaped unhurt as the district commissioner confirmed to the media.
He stated that the security agencies who reached the scene are in hot pursuit of the perpetrators.
He urged the citizens to give tip-offs to the security forces so as to curb the increasing insecurity threats in the city.
This is the second attack in the capital, a similar attack on a popular café along Maka Al-Mukarama road claimed the lives of over 10 people and over 30 others wounded, Al-shabab claimed the responsibility of the attack.
